TitaniumGoldsmith
I am a titanium goldsmith, and from this idea was born a concept with which I identify myself: TitaniumGoldsmith. I am inspired by the Mediterranean to create colorful and sensual handmade jewellery where I combine Titanium or Timascus with Gold, Silver, Diamonds and Precious Stones. I am fascinated by color, wrought metal and nature as a base of inspiration for the creation of my pieces.
Timascus a new material
The Titanium Damascus or Timascus is an innovative material. It is a beautiful fusion of decorative techniques of the old and new world that fascinates me and incorporates my creations.
Titanium the power of color
The Titanium is a silver gray metal in origin, strong as steel and light as aluminum that is present in most of my pieces.
The process to color the Titanium I get it by electrolytic anodizing. This technique involves submerging the pieces in liquid and in a controlled way, electricity is passed at high voltage. With this procedure a rich palette of colors is achieved that includes yellows, lilacs, blues and greens. No dyes or pigments are involved in the process, it is simply generated by transparent oxide films that develop on the surface of the metal.
When a beam of light impinges on the oxide film, part of it is reflected and another part passes through the film until it reaches the base metal and reflects in it. The thickness of the oxide film will determine the color to be visualized. The result is a surprising visual richness and generates very attractive gradations.
