This ring called “Caramelet” is made of 1 micron gold-plated sterling silver and a Duomo-cut hydrothermal stone.
Belongs to the “Mystery” collection

At ZIUR we do not use hydrothermal gems "as is." We start from this hydrothermal rock (identical to natural, but ethically and sustainably created in a laboratory).

ZIUR's unique process:

  1. Our Raw Material: We start with pure hydrothermal rock, which guarantees a quality base, free of imperfections and responsibly sourced.

  2. The Art of Carving: Each of these stones is hand carved by Spanish artisans. This isn't a mass-produced industrial process; it's a work of precision and patience that gives soul to each piece.

  3. The ZIUR Design: Starting from that rock, we created a exclusive design For ZIUR, the shape, facets, and angle of each cut are unique, designed to capture light in a way that only our jewelry can.

What is a hydrothermal gem? It is a gemstone created by humans in a laboratory, replicating the natural process of formation underground, but in a much faster and more controlled manner. The result is a gem identical to natural gems in appearance and composition, but more affordable, with fewer imperfections, and of human origin.

How is a Hydrothermal Gem created?

The process is like using a high-tech pressure cooker to "grow" crystals. Here's how it works:

  1. The Original “Broth”: A piece of natural mineral (such as quartz) is placed in a giant, ultra-durable pressure cooker, called autoclave.

  2. The Secret “Recipe”: Water and the chemical “ingredients” needed to give the gem its color and properties are added (for example, chromium oxides for an emerald or iron for an amethyst).

  3. High Pressure Cooking: The pot is sealed and subjected to extremely high heat and pressure, faithfully mimicking the conditions that exist deep within the Earth where these gems naturally form.

  4. Growth: Under these conditions, the mineral dissolves in water. Then, as the system cools in a controlled manner over weeks or months, the atoms rearrange and deposit layer by layer on a small "seed" or crystal sheet, ultimately forming a large, perfect gem.
